Composer Timothy C. Takach has received more funding from the MN State Arts Board (2 years in a row!) to provide free online lectures to 30 Minnesota schools. The lecture "A Piano, A Pencil, and a Really Good Eraser" can be tailored to students from middle school to college/university and will focus on Takach's experiences as a professional composer, including his careers as a touring singer and music publisher. Takach will introduce students to the life, inspiration and workflow of a composer, and dispel some of the mystery behind creative work and what it takes to pursue the arts as a career option. Takach can also tailor the presentation to include music of his that you are working on.
The program will include:
Up to an hour-long lecture with Timothy C. Takach, with time for Q&A
Written assessments and listening assignments created by G. Phillip Shoultz to use before and after the lecture as desired.
Hard copies of audio materials can be mailed to those who may have students without consistent online access.
A pdf of "Build the Sky," a 3-part round written Takach and Jocelyn Hagen, and a license to make copies for students.
Those interested can sign up here. Takach can give 30 free lectures through this program, and 15 need to be for rural or urban choral programs.
Timothy C. Takach is a fiscal year 2022 recipient of a Creative Support for Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
