Inversion Ensemble’s flagship mixed choir presents “Sacra et Profana,” a concert that heralds the arrival of the Thinning Veil–the three days spanning October 31 to November 2, dedicated to remembering the dead, including martyrs, saints, and the dearly departed. There are two major works featured in this concert. The first one, “MISA”, is a setting of the Latin Mass for a cappella chorus by Filipino composer Ryan Cayabyab (sacra), choreographed by Alexa Capareda. The second is “Unfashioned Creature” (profana) by Timothy C. Takach, a choral ballet, choreographed by Penelope Freeh, scored for choir, cello, and percussion that takes themes from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein: rejection, self-discovery, and love.
This concert benefits the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, which provides Austin-area musicians with access to affordable health, wellness, and prevention services.
